Today's double-action day at the Olympia's Tour presented a tough challenge to the whole peloton. The morning sector featured a fast 100 km long ride, and quickly after the flag dropped, a 17-man break went clear with Thymen Arensman and Marten Kooistra representing the Academy colors. The 20-year Dutchman started the day in fourth overall, just 24 seconds shy from the race lead. It was an action-packed day for the Academy as we were present in Netherland's Olympia's Tour, as well as in Belgium's Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen. At Olympia's Tour our guys lined up for the fourth stage of the race, and we showed our colors from early on as Thymen Arensman entered into the breakaway of the day alongside five other riders. Jordi Meeus closes the Top 5 today in Olympia’s Tour

Today's stage 3 in Olympia's Tour featured a total of 184 km that joined Gieten with Hellendorn, which was the longest stage of the race so far. The day was off to a quick start and the peloton stayed in one big unit for the first 60 km. Tomorrow our riders will lineup in Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen, a 186 km long race in Belgium that will see the peloton tackle the same local circuit a total of 17 times. The predominantly flat course will be combined with one cobbled section that the riders will ride every lap. The Academy riders will see themselves surrounded by a really strong field, filled with many WorldTour and Pro Continental teams, in which will be a very valuable experience and a major step in their development. Yesterday's opening stage, which was marked by the strong wind, saw three Academy riders power into the Top 10 of the day and overall of the 2018 Olympia's Tour, with Ide Schelling sitting in second in both classifications. The 2018 edition of the Olympia's Tour kicked off today in Assen, with a 127 km long stage that started and finished in the same city and featured mainly a flat parcour.
