Jordi Meeus takes third in Ronde van Midden Brabant

Today we went back to racing Ronde van Midden Brabant after seizing the win there last year. Alberto Dainese outsprinted everyone else in the field and powered to, what it was at the time, his second win in Academy colors. The race presented a predominantly flat parcour which previewed a final bunch sprint for the win, but the strong wind already present at the start could change that.  The race was off to a fast start with some attacks trying to make it up the road, but the fast speed and the strong…continue reading →

Schelling: “I look back to a wonderful day”

Yesterday's U23 World Championships Road Race, saw our Kaden Groves and Ide Schelling rode to Top 20 placement in a day that was marked by rainy and windy weather. With 50 km to go a group of 40 riders broke clear of the peloton and that was eventually the winning move, out that group some more attacks happen and the lack of organization in the chasing group, with Groves being really marked, let a group of 5 riders go away, and that by the time then went under the last kilometer banner it…continue reading →

Daan Hoole takes 10th in the U23 Worlds Championships TT

Barnabás Peák riding for Hungary and Daan Hoole for the Netherlands were the two Academy representatives in today's U23 World Championships time trial. The 30 km long parcour was marked by two short steep climbs in the second half of the race, and together with rainy weather and accumulated water on the road made it a difficult one for all participants.  The 2018 Hungarian Elite time trial champion was the first of our riders off the ramp, but he could not find his best pace around the course but he finished just outside…continue reading →

Teamwork powers Dainese to second in Gooikse Pijl

Today we went back to Gooikse Pijl, a race that back in 2018 marked an important milestone in the history of the Academy. After a day-long breakaway, our Jordi Meeus outsprinted his companions and delivered the first-ever UCI 1.1 victory to the Academy. Our riders were motivated to repeat last year's success and Tiago Antunes and Ide Schelling making into an initial breakaway of 15 riders was a hint of that. The peloton brought that move back in a very fast first hour of racing in which the race covered almost 50 km.…continue reading →

The Academy goes down fighting in GP Wallonie

Today our riders started in UCI 1.1's Grand Prix de Wallonie, which presented a broken parcour featuring 9 côtes, including the final one all the way to the Citadelle de Namur on cobbles. The succession of short step climbs at the end, previewed a fast and hard final rush to the line. The day was off to a fast start and after some attempts to make it up the road, it was a group of 5 riders the one that eventually got away. Within that group, we could find the likes of Tour…continue reading →
