The 146 km parcour that joined Marostica and Rosa featured the fifth stage of the 2020 Giro d'Italia U23. The profile presented a predominantly flat course, but the local circuit had four category three climbs in just 50 kilometers. The first time 40 km leading to the first climb were totally flat, which led to the formation of the breakaway of the day with 3 riders. After three predominantly flat stages, the Giro d'Italia U23 welcomed the first mountain top finish of the 2020 edition, as the peloton had to face a really tough parcour that recorded close to 3000 m of vertical ascent and four categorized climbs, finishing atop of the Bolca climb, classified as a first category climb.  The main breakaway of the day it was featured by 5 riders, but the peloton did not allow a big to them a big gap.
