A bunch sprint decides the first stage of the Tour de Bretagne
The stage was off to a calm start and after some attacks in the first kilometers a duo of riders went up the road, being allowed a gap over the six minutes by the peloton. Once the bunch got to the local circuit the the bunch considerably picked up the speed and the gap of the leading group began to fall down.
Our guys stood well positioned inside the main group during the chase saving power for the last part of the day. After the two breakaway members were caught, late attackers tried their luck without getting the gap and the bunch got together to the last kilometer. An inopportune puncture by another rider caught ours Gabriel Cullaigh and Hartthijs de Vries just behind the accident and the chance of getting a good result slipped away.
Stage one down, we have six more to go!
