It wasn’t until the first cobbles section of the day that the breakaway finally went clear. They leading group was formed by 11 riders, including our Adriaan Janssen, and were allowed more than two minutes and a half by the bunch. Our riders stood well positioned in the main group as the they arrived to the hardest sections of the day.
Bad luck was on the side of our riders when they arrived to the Carrefour de l’Arbre as Fabio Jakobsen had a mechanical and Julius van den berg crashed. With 25 km to go a group of 18 riders went away from the peloton with Lucas Eriksson and Adriaan Janssen again in it.
Three riders atttacked, and after they were brought back in the last kilometer, Adriaan jumped off that group and keep the gap until 200m to go. In the reduced sprint, the U23 Swedish National Champion was 12th with the Dutch rider in 14th.
It was a great effort from all the team today!
