We are delighted to announce that Aike Visbeek will leave the Academy and join Circus – Wanty Gobert as Performance Manager starting from 2021 onwards. Visbeek, who came into the SEG Racing Academy project at the start of the 2020 season will move up again to the top level of the sport and bring is expertise onto the Belgian squad as they enter into the first year of their WorldTour journey.

While heading the Academy during the unusual 2020 season, Visbeek has seen our talents take 11 wins in just 30 racing days, including stage wins in Ronde de l’Isard and Giro d’Italia U23 as well as in UCI 1.2 races like Ster van Zwolle and Dorpenomloop Rucphen. Also, during the lockdown period, Visbeek commanded our transition to eRacing which gave our riders not only the chance to keep on racing but also a platform to learn and keep their development on and off the bike.

In coming weeks, the SEG Racing Academy will be able to announce his replacement.

Aike Visbeek, on his year at the SEG Racing Academy:
“Taking the lead in this project made me quickly realise why the SEG Racing Academy is the one of the leading development teams in the world. The wealth of expertise combined with ambition and the drive to work hard makes this team different, better and unique. Our results this season being the main proof of that. I am really proud of this year with many memorable victories and riders developing into the professional ranks. Leaving this project after a successful season is something that I am really proud of”

Eelco Berkhout, SEG Cycling Director:
“2020 is and has been a difficult year in many ways, and we were more than happy to have had an experienced Academy Director in the likes of Aike to lead the Academy through this difficult year. Like always we invest in quality staff, but we also know that if our team is performing there will be an extra eye not only on our riders but also on our staff members. We want to move forward and so does our team staff which totally aligns with the culture of our company and our role as development team. We want to thank Aike for his great work and we wish him luck at Circus – Wanty Gobert”
