Alberto Dainese; The Italian powerhorse

At just 20 years of age, the fast Italian sprinter seized a total of 7 wins in 2018, the last two while already wearing Academy colors as he joined the team in early September. Dainese shined with his own light in some of the biggest races of the U23 ranks and took home a stage win at the Giro d’Italia U23 as well as in Italy’s one-day U23 classic GP Industria e Commercio to name a few.

The talented Italian rider started in cycling six years ago. “I began at the age of 14 and I started riding with a small club near my city. Even though that there’s no cycling tradition in my family and I am the only cyclist, I could and still can count with their support” points out Dainese. As a Junior, he rode for S.C. Padovani for two years and entered the U23 ranks while wearing the colors of Zalf – Euromobil. The strength that he showed in the mass sprints, brought him to the Academy before the 2018 season shut down. He showcased his talent since the very beginning, taking the win in the Pro Kermesse in Stekene and Ronde van Midden Brabant.

Despite his strong results, Dainese has his focus on keep on improving and becoming a better bike rider. The chance of racing against professional riders at an early phase of his development allows him to test himself against some of the world’s best sprinters. “The best lesson I have learned from cycling it is to never give up, neither when it seems too hard, as at the end if you work hard there is always a reward”.
