Alberto Dainese will join WorldTour’s Team Sunweb
We are really happy to officially announce that our Italian sprinter, Alberto Dainese will join the Dutch WorldTour squad Team Sunweb on a two-year deal. “It feels great to join such an important team like Team Sunweb. It has been a long path to achieve the goal to turn professional, it was my dream since I started cycling and now I can finally say that I made it” highlights our Italian 21-year old.

Alberto Dainese joined the Academy late in the 2018 season, but that did not stop him to win already two races in our colors. However, Dainese’s focus was set into the 2019 period, in which he showed from the very beginning that he was one of the biggest talents in the U23 market. With five wins, including three in the Tour de Bretagne, the Italian talent caught the eye of the biggest teams in the world. “Racing at WorldTour level will be a challenge, but I am really looking forward to training and racing against the best riders in the world” points out Dainese.

The Academy professionalism and organization left a really important impression on the Italian rider. “It was a big step to join an international environment but I was lucky that SEG was always there for me and helped my transition into the team. I felt really comfortable in the SEG family really early on, and I strongly feel like joining Team Sunweb is the best way to keep on working in a very well-structured organization.

Eelco Berkhout, SEG Cycling Director & UCI Licensed Agent:
“Alberto (Dainese) was one of the most demanded talents as he proved his status and consistency race in race out. Team Sunweb offered him the best structure and development plan to achieve the high expectations in his development. We are really happy to have a rider like Alberto Dainese moving up to the WorldTour after having him in the Academy. He had an international mindset when it came to his development and at the end, he made the right choices and the needed sacrifices and it paid off really well”.
