Dries de Pooter, the master from Geel.

What about him?
Dries joined the Academy straight from the Junior ranks after being one of the most promising prospects of the category. He dominated the national scene with several high placements with the highlight being the Belgium Junior Road Race title.
How did he perform?
He was at the Academy for just one season and he adapted really well at the category. His first races were already against a WorldTour start list which impacted positively and largely to his learning curve. As the season progressed so did his results, and he first showed that in Nation Cup’s Course de la Paix where he was fighting for the win in some stages. Later on he showed his climbing abilities with a Top 10 finish atop of Planche des Belles Filles during the Tour d’Alsace and in the queen stage of Circuit des Ardennes.
What was next after the Academy?
Such promising performances already in his first year as U23 opened the eyes of the main teams in the sport. However, development was the main focus for Dries. That’s why a multi-year deal with Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert landed on the table consisting in a traineeship at the end of 2021 and 2022, before kicking off the pro contract at the beginning of 2023. In 2022, while coached and guided by the Performance team of Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert, Dries is racing with Hagens Berman Axeon as he keeps getting better as a bike rider.
