Stan ‘Mr. Consistency’ van Tricht.
What about him?
Stan joined the Academy late in 2019 as a trainee to set the ground running for his last two years at the U23 ranks. He came in as a solid one-day race and with the goal and developing a wider range of skills to make him WorldTour material.
How did he perform?
Already in 2020, he showed the type of rider that he was, and after a very strong off-season, he won his first one-day race in Belgium. He kept progressing through our program and was a big asset to the wins clinched by Jordi Meeus and David Dekker. Such performances draw some interest from professional teams, but Stan was devoted to staying an additional year at the Academy and fine-tuning his development. He did just that and after a spell of multiple Top 10, high placements in the most important races in the calendar, and key wins, he was ready to move up.
What was next after the Academy?
He was called up as a trainee by his dream team, Quick-Step and after learning the ropes for some months and winning his second race with them, he was offered a two-year deal. Starting in 2022, Stan is in the perfect environment for his development and already a few races into his WT stint he has showed that this is where he belongs.
