Barnabás Peák joins the Academy in 2019
We are delighted to welcome the talented Barnabás Peák to the Academy ahead of the 2019 season. The 19-year started the year as a member of the UCI World Cycling Center team and earned a spot as a trainee for Quick-Step Floors from August onwards. “I am very excited to join such a successful and well-organized development team. From the outside, everything looks really smooth so I can not wait to be a part of it”.

Peak, who just finished his second year in the U23 category, had a consistent 2018 where he achived the double crown in the Elite Hungarian National Championships, won a stage and finished third overall in Basque Country’s Vuelta al Bidasoa, and during his traineeship he proved his class with a Top 10 finish in 1.HC’s Gran Piemonte. “I expect to learn a lot in this period. The learning curve that I will undergo in the Academy will certainly help me to become a better rider and improve in all sides of cycling”.

The talented youngster, who will become the first-ever Hungarian rider to dress in Academy colors, marks the Academy philosophy and the roster of riders who graduated and moved to professional status as proves that he is on the right developing track. “I chose the Academy because of the increasing rate of not only moving riders up to the professional ranks but also educating them for being successful from the first year in the circuit. Also, I am good friends with my future teammate Ide Schelling and he has told me a lot about the team, which made my decision easier at the end”.
