Cees Bol takes sixth in the second stage in Bretagne
After yesterday’s opening stage today the bunch had to face a total of 180 km starting in Louisfert and finishing with five local laps in Plougoumelen. Once again the race was off to a fast start with several attempts to make it to the breakaway of the day. Edoardo Affini, who was already up the road yesterday, represented the Academy colors in those early moves. Eventually, two riders moved away from the bunch, and they were allowed a gap of more than five minutes.

Our riders kept always a front position in the peloton, always focused and helping each other and protecting Cees Bol ahead of the final bunch sprint. The leaders entered into the last local laps with a half a minute advantage, the high pace and tireless work of the bunch was too much for the members of the break and they ended up being caught. Once the race was back in one piece, the main teams started to work for their sprinters with our riders delivering Cees Bol in a front position, allowing our Dutchman to cross the line in sixth position.

After two strong placements in the opening stages, Cees Bol currently sits in 12th place overall 14 seconds down on the race leader, with teammate Edoardo Affini one spot ahead 10 seconds shy from the yellow jeresey. Another long day awaits the bunch tomorrow as they will have to tackle a 181 km long parcour in the third stage of the 2018 edition of the Tour de Bretagne.
