Cullaigh: “I want to develop myself as a one-day racer.”
22/06/2017
Gabriel Cullaigh will be in the Isle of Man this weekend riding the U23 TT British Championships. The British rider decided to sign for the team last winter because of the wider facilities that SEG had to offer: “Next to an extensive guidance, it was mainly the program that the team would race what made my decision easier. The chance of racing in a diverse variety of racing it is what a rider like me needs right now.”
Cullaigh moved to the team's Girona apartment this winter, and during the first part of the season he has been making the most of the roads and cycling environment of the city: “Since I have been there, there has been a lot going on, but on top of it it's a great place to train and walk around. There are a lot of cyclists so that makes a community that I really like. It has been a great experience.”
The Yorkshire man, is a very versatile riders able to shine in a lot of different terrains, but also has a clear picture of the rider he wants to be: “I want to develop myself as a one-day racer and target those Belgian-style classics. But also, I want to become a great team player, because at the end of the day when your leader crosses the line first it is very special as well.”
Gabriel will have a shot at these kinds of races in two weeks time at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and KOGA Slag om Norg.
