Dainese makes it two in a row at Tour de Bretagne
After yesterday’s win and GC takeover by Alberto Dainese, our rider had the responsibility of dominating today’s third stage all the way to Guegon. Our riders played it smart and Marten Kooistra got into the breakaway of the day alongside four other riders, which took off all the chasing duties from our riders’ shoulders. The peloton allowed them a gap of almost five minutes before picking up the pace and reducing the margin.

The Dutchman played it well in the breakaway and took the first place in the first intermediate sprint before taking third in the second one. While Kooistra was up front, the Academy jerseys in the peloton were close to the front, waiting for the right moment to move up. The breakaway survived until less than 15 km were remaining, but during the chase, our Jordi Meeus was caught up in a crash that forced him to change the bike but he made it back in time to the peloton in time.

Once the break was brought back our guys delivered again an amazing lead-out for Alberto Dainese that outsprinted everyone else for the second day in a row and enlarged his GC lead by taking the win, which accounts as his third of the season and the eighth UCI win for the Academy. Next to this, with today’s victory we achieve the milestone of having won at least twice in all stage races (Tour de Normandie, Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux, Circuit des Ardennes & Tour de Bretagne) this season.
