We are stoked to announce the signing of the current U23 Dutch National Champion, David Dekker, for the 2020 season. “I am very excited to be joining the SEG Racing Academy for the coming season. It will be a very important year for me and I feel confident that the Academy is the right place to be and the perfect environment to develop myself not only as a bike rider but also as a person” highlights the 21-year old.
Dekker, who has 4 wins under his belt so far this season including the above-mentioned U23 Dutch RR national title, is looking forward to working alongside our Performance Staff and make the most of the coming season. “I expect to develop myself into a better rider and be ready to take the next step onto the professional ranks. My goals will be to become a better sprinter and to improve my climbing skills” points out the versatile rider, who won stage 1 at the Carpathian Race as well as one-day races like Houtse Linies and Brussels-Opwijk.
The professional approach that the Academy has on all sides, as well as the high-quality and international racing program that we ride, were two of the factors that influenced Dekker’s decision. “The team has proved to be successful in developing talents at the highest level of the U23 ranks. Next to a great program with races like Paris-Roubaix and the Giro d’Italia, the team offers a lot of professional assistance not only in performance but also in mental coaching and management. Personally, I find all this features key in order to become a successful cyclist”.
