It was a fast day on the bike for the peloton in today’s Giro d’Italia U23 stage 2. The breakaway of the day featured up to eight riders, including Stephen Williams. Our British climber showed great courage after crashing in the final kilometer of yesterday's stage.

The leading group was allowed up to three minutes before being caught 30 km away from the line. Some attacks went by in the final end, but the bunch crossed the last kilometer mark all together. The slopes of the last climb broke the group apart.
