De Vries: “I had the perfect racing program at the Academy”
20/11/2017
Hartthijs de Vries made his way to the Pro Ranks as he will be racing for the Dutch Pro Continental squad Team Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij, but 2017 was a tough one for the talented Dutchman: “It was a year of ups and downs. I had that accident while training and also I was ill some times for quite a long time, so all in all it was not the best possible scenario” points out De Vries.
Despite the setbacks, the 21-year old Dutchman proved his mental toughness and managed to achieve some notable results throughout the year. “I am happy with the way I dealt with all the injuries because every time I came back stronger. I won some small races and I finished twice in the Top 5 of major U23 races (Gent-Wevelgem and Paris Tours) and I had a great performance at the U23 Dutch Nationals (third in the RR and fourth in the TT)” highlights De Vries who will join the Dutch Pro-Continental squad on a two-year deal.
Hartthijs joined the Academy in 2017 and he has enjoyed a short but intense year in our organization. “I had a really good time with the Academy, I had a perfect racing program that allowed me to gain experience in international races. Now is time to look ahead and I am really looking forward to show myself in the Pro Ranks”.
From the Academy we wish him all the best in the upcoming years!
