Dwars door West Vlaanderen preview
Tomorrow’s Dwars door West Vlaanderen will mark our first season of 2018. After two training camps in Greece everyone in the team is looking forward to get the season underway and let all the hard work pay off. Wind, rain and cobbles will be on the menu for our seven representatives in the second edition of the Belgian race. The course will see the bunch completing a total of 190 km with the race being decided in the final 13 km long local circuit that the race will go through four times around Ichtegem.

Lineup: Cees Bol, Edoardo Affini, Ide Schelling, Jordi Meeus, Julius van den Berg, Marten Kooistra and Peter Lenderink.

Cees Bol, feels calm and excited ahead of the opening race of the season:

“I am feeling good and excited to start the season,  I have been training well and got good confidence from that. It is going to be a hard one therefore positioning will be really important and that is why we have to work well as a team. It is always easier to move to move up as a team than as 7 individuals. The goal will be to make it to the final and go for a good result, it is a pro race with riders that already have a lot of racing days on his legs, but will not stop us of giving it a go”.

Michel Cornelisse, DS for the for the race, highlights the importance of riding as a team from start to finish:

“Our goal tomorrow will be to be the surprise of the race. I believe that some of our guys can have a good race and finish upfront. I am confident ahead of the race because I see seven riders in perfect conditions. After the training camp everyone is at 100% physically and mentally, which it is a very important factor. Regarding the race itself, we have to be well positioned during the course as the bunch can split easily. The Kemmelberg will be a crucial point as well and the short cobbled climb in the local circuit will be key for the final result”.
