Day three and yet another hectic day of racing at the Giro d’Italia U23. Today’s stage presented a tough parcour that included five categorized climbs but the peloton made it even harder as it took 42 km for the first breakaway to go clear. Our Jan Maas represented the team in that early moved while the other guys were saving energy down in the bunch.
All those early moves were chased back by the bunch, and the at the top of the Monte Trebbio when a reduced 30-man peloton, including Stevie Williams and Julius van den Berg, arrived to the summit of the climb ahead. The eventual winning move made in the last climb and six riders went away and kept all the way to the finish with our riders rolling in the peloton.
Another day down, plenty of more racing to come!
