Hectic stage at the Giro

It was a hectic day out at the first stage of the Giro d’Italia U23. The peloton started the 40th edition of the race in Imola, and it didn’t take long until the 3-man breakaway went clear.

Today’s parcour presented a tricky final kilometers as the two categorized climbs were compressed inside the last 50 km of the day. The break was caught before the last climb and then the attacks began. Eventually one rider got the and took a solo win. Behind, the peloton nervously arrived to the last kilometer and that provoked a crash that involved our Stevie Williams. But our riders continued working together and positioned Fabio Jakobsen perfectly before another crash happened only 300 m away from the line. The U23 Dutch national champion was skilled enough to avoid crashing, but he lost his sprint train.

We hope for better luck tomorrow!
