After two consecutive Top 10 placements in his previous participations at the U23 European Time Trial Championships, Daan Hoole stepped it up yesterday and took third in the continental showdown in what was an amazing performance by the young Dutchman. “I am really happy. The European Time Trial was the goal of the beginning of the season and we always aimed for a podium finish, so in that sense, I can say that the job is done and that I succeeded” highlights Hoole.
Yesterday’s third place in the time trial event means that Hoole has reached the Top 10 in his last 15 races against the clock and that number gets bigger when you factor in the TTT. “It means a lot to be on a podium of such a race. It been always been a dream of mine to be able to enjoy a moment like that, and yesterday I could check it off the list”.
Fresh off successful results in the Flanders Tomorrow Tour, where he finished second overall and the above-mentioned performance at the U23 European Time Trial, the 21-year talent already eyes his next big goal. “I am really looking forward to the U23 World Championships Time Trial. After yesterday’s performance I am very confident that I can aim for another podium”.
Hoole will line up for tomorrow’s road race alongside Stan van Tricht, who will be another Academy rider in the start defending the colors of the Belgian National Team.
