We are delighted to announce that Daan Hoole will be moving up to the WorldTour ranks with Trek-Segafreado already this year as a trainee before a two-year deal kicks in at the beginning of 2021. “I’m super happy and proud to see that my dream and what I have been working towards for many year is coming together and true. I’m really looking forward to be joining such a big team with such a strong history within the sport” points out Daan Hoole.

The 22-year old joined the Academy back in 2018 straight out of the Junior ranks, and after 4 years of constant improvements and development, he will be joining one of the top teams in the sport. “The Academy really made me the rider that I am today. They guided me through the years and gave me all I needed to get better every season. There has been also a really good atmosphere within the team, not only just among the riders but also with every single staff member, which made it feel like a group of friends all the time”.

During his time at the Academy, Daan Hoole won the U23 Dutch time trial Nationals in 2019 as just a second-year U23, and in late May he claimed the win at Coppa della Pace. Also, during these four years, Hoole has put up an impressive tally of 11 consecutive time trials within the Top 10. “For the rest of the season I will be focussing on Tour d’Alsace, Tour de l’Avenir, and if selected the U23 World Championships. Also, I want to be at a good level in my first races with Trek Segafredo. For the coming years, I want to focus to keep on improving in all sides of cycling, especially in lead-outs, classics, and time trials”.

This, Daan Hoole become the 29th rider that moves up to the professional ranks after having developed himself in the SEG Racing Academy.

Sven Jonker, SEG Racing Academy Director:
“We’re very excited and proud that Daan Hoole is making his next step. In the end, that’s where the SEG Racing Academy is all about: To develop our riders in the best possible way to get a chance to become a professional bike rider. Daan showed himself as a very strong rider and great teammate, as he was not only focused on results for himself but just as much on making a good result possible for others. We’ll enjoy the company of Daan for the rest of this season and we already wish him all the best for his future at Trek-Segafredo, a team that for sure is a great match for Daan!”
