We are extremely happy to announce that our Ide Schelling will join Germany’s Bora-Hansgrohe for the next two seasons. The 21-year old, joined the Academy straight from the Junior ranks ahead of the 2017 season, and after three seasons within the team’s structure, he became ready to move to WorldTour level. “I am really honored to be riding for such a great team. It will be a big step up in terms of racing, calendar and being part of one of the best teams in the world, but I am more than ready to take on the challenge!” points out the Dutch rider.

Schelling, who this year took a stage win in Giro Ciclistico valle d’Aosta and moved to the leaders’ jersey, highlights the importance of having been part of a team fully-orientated to the riders development. “These years in the Academy have been so special to me. The learning curve I have had and experienced myself have been perfect for my development. Every year a bit more, a bit more serious, a bit more racing, but still always while having fun. In this way, the team made me into the rider and also the person who I am now and I can’t thank everyone involved enough for that”.

The Dutch all-rounder landed a spot in the 2017 Academy roster after enjoying two successful years as a Junior at national and international level. Throughout this period, he has developed into a rider that can climb with the best, knows his way around one-day races, has a strong time trial and has a killer instinct an aggressiveness for breakaways. “I’m really grateful that SEG Racing Academy asked me to ride for them, it was the best choice of my life to agree. Now it’s time to move on and make some new adventures with my new team. A period I’m really looking forward to and I am really eager to get it started”
