Jakobsen sprints to sixth at the U23 Europeans RR

A total of six riders of our team were at the start line of U23 European Championships RR. Today’s race was off to a fast start, with the peloton not letting any major moves broke clear. The humid and slippery road caused many crashes but unfortunately all of our guys stayed upright.

The Dutch national team led the chase for most of the day, but coming into the last end of the course a group of four riders went up the road and were allowed up to thirty seconds with only 10 km remaining. The 4-man breakaway stood upfront and held off the bunch that crossed the line just 2 seconds after them. The second year running U23 Dutch Road Race champion, Fabio Jakobsen, was second in the bunch sprint which accounted from a final six place overall.

Just after crossing the finish line Fabio was involved in a crash, taking a Russia’s Petr Rikonov down with him. Luckily both rider came away without any major injuries and will back on the bike in no time.
