Jan Maas will become a trainee for Team LottoNL-Jumbo
Our 21-year old Jan Maas will move up to the pro ranks as a trainee with the Dutch WorldTour team Team LottoNL-Jumbo. Maas, who played the super-domestic role in service of Stephen Williams in races like Ronde l’Isard and Giro d’Italia U23, will join his new team in August the 1st. “I am really happy and proud to join a team like this as a trainee. It is a great chance to continue my development as a cyclist and I am also satisfied with all the hard work done to reach that level” highlights Maas.

Our strong Dutchman will enjoy an intensive traineeship as he will join the WorldTour squad in altitude camps before racing for the first time in his new kit in the Tour of Utah and the Colorado Classic. “It will be a great learning process for me to race and alongside these world-class riders. I am really looking forward to learning from all of them on and off the bike and take the most of this opportunity” points out our youngster. Maas will be the fourth Academy rider in four years who complete a traineeship with LottoNL-Jumbo.

Jan Maas has been part of the Academy for the last two season in which he has been offered a racing program that totally fit his needs as a rider and enhanced his development. “The last two years with the Academy have been really important for me and my development as a bike rider because I could ride every race I wished and had a great racing and training program. The professionalism around and the team and the international racing program that we are offered has a really positive impact to everyone in the team, so I am really excited to carry all that knowledge into my next step”.
