It was difficult day around Limburg, with plenty of short steep climbs marking today’s parcours. The three-rider breakaway was chased down when the bunch got in the race's closing kilometres. There were lots of attacks in the final part, with our guys remaining in the peloton. When the eventual solo winning attack was made, four of our riders were in the chasing group.
It was clear at that point that iwe had the goal of bringing Adriaan Janssen back in the leader’s jersey. The team did not manage to close the gap and also couldn't put Adriaan in the position to gain important points for the GC. It's clear that Performance Coach Dries Hollanders wasn't happy at all with today's race. We hope our guys realise what went wrong today and learn their lessons for the upcoming important races.
In a reduced group that sprinted for second place, Hartthijs de Vries took eight, Julius van den Berg 11th, Adriaan 19th and Jan Maas 20th.
After today’s race, Adriaan Janssen stays at the top of Top Competitie's Best Young Rider classification and is third in the GC.
