Jordi Meeus: “2019 will be an important year for me”
Jordi Meeus joined the Academy as from the 1st of August of 2017 as a trainee. Since he was part the development structure of the team he has not stopped of making strides forward on and off the bike. After hitting a big learning curve in the early part of the season, the 20-year old Belgian showed his skills and took home the first ever 1.1 win of the Academy in Gooikse Pijl. “It has been great being part of the Academy during the last one and a half years, it is a pleasure to work within such a professional environment. Everyone involved in the team is aiming to get better every day, so with everyone committed the chemistry it is very high”.

Like everyone in the team, Meeus is working in the first steps of his preparation for the upcoming season. “There is not much of a difference in comparison to the work we did last winter. Together with the Performance Staff, we made a big step forward and we will aim again to develop myself as a bike rider and making my engine bigger” points out our Belgian sprinter.

Aside of the above-mentioned win in Gooikse Pijl, Meeus showed his classics skills in many races against professional riders, which helped him to build a strong mindset for the years to come. However, despite a positive season, the fast Belgian does not want to stop here and has already some big goals in mind for 2019. “My main objective will be to show that I really made another step this winter, and I am working hard to do so. I want to show that I am able to battle with the strongest riders and to win races at any level. This will be an important year for me”.
