Jordi Meeus closes the Top 5 today in Olympia’s Tour
Today’s stage 3 in Olympia’s Tour featured a total of 184 km that joined Gieten with Hellendorn, which was the longest stage of the race so far. The day was off to a quick start and the peloton stayed in one big unit for the first 60 km. Afterward, it was a group of six riders the ones that broke clear of the main bunch and formed the breakaway of the day.

Despite its late formation, the leading 6-man group quickly opened a large gap that at some points it was around 6 minutes. In the end, the work of several teams brought the break back with 30 km to the line, but in the late part of the stage a rider went solo and held on all the way to the line, with the bunch coming short by only a few meters. Our Jordi Meeus and Marten Kooistra were in the mix and came home with fifth and sixth in the day.

With half of the racing days in the pocket and after yet another hard-fought day, Ide Schelling and Marten Kooistra kept their second and fourth spots on the overall classification safe. Behind we can find Daan Hoole in seventh and Jordi Meeus moving up to tenth on GC. With four riders within the first ten of the race, we still on top of the Best Team Classification ahead of tomorrow’s fourth stage.
