Julius van den Berg: “I will give my 200% at the U23 Worlds”
Current Team EF Education First – Drapac p/b Cannondale rider and Academy Alumni, Julius van den Berg, has been selected by the Dutch National Team to compete in the time trial and the road race of the upcoming U23 World Championships in Innsbruck. “It is always a pleasure and an honor to be selected to ride for your country, so needless to say that I am really happy about it. It is my last shot at a U23 race, so I will give my 200% in order to make it a one to remember. Personally, I hope to have a good performance in the time trial and fight with the best guys. In the road race, it will be about helping my teammates as much as possible in such a hard profile” points out van den Berg.

The 21-year old Dutchman, made the move to the WorldTour in July the 1st, after three and a half years in the Academy. Van den Berg, quickly showed his talent and in his first-ever WT race, Belgium’s Binckbank Tour, as he was in the break in three different stages sprinting to second in the fifth day of racing. “Life at Team EF is really good like it was at the Academy. I have been treated very well since the second I got in, and thanks to how everybody helped me and I can say that I adapted really fast. The way that the SEG Racing Academy works, is really professional, so there were no big changes in that sense”.

Julius’ fight for the rainbow jersey will start on the 24th of September with the race against the clock and will be followed by the road race three days later.
