“It was my hardest race ever”, says Julius van den Berg after riding 200 km in the break in last weekend’s Ronde van Drenthe.
"At first I wanted to wait for the final, but once I was at the front of the bunch I could not hold back". It was a long day for him, with both the fast pace and the hard taking him beyond his limits. "I was feeling good, but at the end things got really tough and I was so tired. It was definitely my hardest race ever". Now he faces his first goal of the season, Tour de Normandie, with satisfaction after the first races of the year.
"It was a really hard race but also a good training. We raced again in Rucphen the next day and it was really good to see that my recovery was fast and I was feeling good again. That gave me confidence for Tour de Normandie."
The six-stage long race starts next Monday in the French city of Bourg-Achard. It will be the first stage race for our guys this season. Keep and eye on Julius and the team!
