Julius van den Berg sprints to 6th in Bretagne
30/04/2017
A very strong Julius van den Berg got into the breakaway of the day in the very first kilometers of the stage alongside 9 other riders. They kept the gap to a minute and a half, but the high pace up to the Mur de Bretagne left the leading group down to two riders, one being our always-attacking Dutch rider.
Both worked together to distance the peloton and they were joined by another rider as they entered the local circuit. In the last two laps lot of attacking went by in the peloton, with our Gabriel Cullaigh following some of the moves. As the riders were down to the last lap, the leading group was formed by eight. A late attack gave a solo win to one of the members of the front break with our Julius van den Berg sprinting to sixth in the group behind. Gabriel Cullaigh and Stevie Williams kept fighting until the last metre taking 13th and 15th in the sprint of the bunch.
Thanks to today’s efforts Julius currently sits on 9th place on GC ahead of tomorrow’s last stage of the race.
Time to recover and get ready for tomorrow!
