Kaden Groves will join Mitchelton Scott from now onwards
We are extremely happy to announce that Kaden Groves will join Mitchelton Scott. The 20-year old will be part of the Australian WorldTour already for some races this season, before kicking off a two-year deal. “I am super excited to be joining a team of the level of Mitchelton Scott. I feel like I could not had been in better hands as U23 in the Academy, with the program they have and the professionalized Performance Staff behind, allows us to get all our talent out” describes Groves.

The talented sprinter, who accounts a total of five wins under his belt this season, quickly emerged as one of the hottest properties in the U23 circuit after his early success in Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux and Circuit des Ardennes where he picked two stage wins in each race. The superiority and the strength that Groves showed race in race out, proved that he deserved a place at the highest level. “I think that moving up to the professional ranks is a big step, but I am really looking forward to being part of one of the best teams in the sport and ride along a memorable first season together”.

Groves joined the Academy late in the off-season, but he quickly got along with the Performance Staff. A personalized training and racing plan was set for him, in order to improve his qualities and develop him into the best possible bike rider he could be.  After spending the year in the team apartment in Girona, the Australian sprinter acknowledges that he had all he needed to work towards his cycling dreams. “Joining SEG Racing Academy and setting base in Europe was an important and exciting step, I came with big goals and ambitions and I could not have a better environment to work in. Everyone in the team, staff, coaches, the management gives everything for you and your teammates so we just have to focus on riding. The Academy is a big family and I will miss it for sure”.

Martijn Berkhout, SEG Cycling Director & UCI Licensed Agent:
“Is great to see a rider like Kaden Groves develop the way he did this season by working with the SEG Racing Academy’s Performance Staff. He got a program where he could test himself in high-demanding races of the European scene. Mitchelton Scott has a huge development focus and will offer a great platform for young and talented riders to develop themselves within a great organization and a high-quality racing program. Kaden (Groves) together with Barnabás (Peák) will follow the footsteps of former SEG Racing Academy riders Nick Schultz and Edoardo Affini, which are great examples of the level of the riders we develop”.
