Kooistra & the Academy dominate Regiobank Kersenronde
Yesterday’s Regionbank Kersenronde featured the fourth round of the U23 Road Series. We arrived to the race with already one win in our bag, as Jordi Meeus won in GP Tombroek. Our riders went off with an offensive mindset and Daan Hoole was in the initial breakaway of the day that counted with three riders in first instance before two more riders arrived later on.

The rest of the Academy jerseys could be found in the peloton, saving energy for the final, and it turned out to be the smartest thing to do. After the breakaway was caught, a series of attacks took place trying to make it out of the bunch, but with 15 km to go a group of 10 riders could make it up the road, with Minne Verboom, Marten Kooistra and Jordi Meeus representing the Academy flag.

The gap was growing as the kilometers went by, so the victory was played in a reduced bunch sprint between the breakaway members. Our talents made the numbers count and perfectly delivered Marten Kooistra to the sprint while Jordi Meeus (fourth) and Minne Verboom (seventh) wrapped up a great Academy performance. Thanks to his win, the Dutchman moves up to fifth in the overall classification, while our Belgian sprinter sits in second position tied with the current GC leader.

The fifth round will take place on the 23rd of June, Color Code Bessenge.
