Today’s UCI’s 1.2 De Kustpijl featured a totally flat 200 km long parcour that previewed a bunch sprint already from the starting gun. We arrived to the line, with a strong lineup ready to make the most of the day. The race started as usual, with many riders trying to make it up the road and eventually it was a 4-man group the one featuring the break of the day.

Our riders sat nice and easy in the middle of the bunch saving the legs and energy for the final part as it was presented as a fast one. The bunch controlled perfectly the gap of the breakaway, which was allowed just a bit over of two minutes maximum. The leading group was one rider down as the race entered the closing part of the day, before being brought back by the bunch as the lead-out trains approached the finish line.

In that final rush, our Jordi Meeus suffered a flat tyre which complicated his chances for a great result in the day, but Dutchmen Marten Kooistra & Jesper Rasch sprinted to sixth and tenth in the day. That’s another close one by Kooistra, who’s also riding as a trainee for Team Sunweb and another great performance by Rasch, who earlier this year also seized a fourth place in Youngster Coast Challenge.
