Maarten Tjallingii joins the Academy Performance Staff
We are delighted to announce the addition of Maarten Tjallingii to our Performance Staff. The addition of the former Dutch pro-rider will bring more experience and first-hand knowledge to the Academy Performance structure as he enjoyed a total of 13 seasons in the professional ranks, between 2003 and 2016, with highlights such as winning the Tour of Belgium in 2006 and powering to the podium in the 2011 edition of Paris Roubaix.

Maarten knows how important the mental aspect is in order to reach your maximum potential as a cyclist, and that will be his main focus in the team. After his requirement as a cyclist in 2016 Maarten has worked as a success coach. His clients have benefited from his approach to personal development goals – both on and off the bike. In addition he has dealt with all sorts of challenges during his professional career that will be extremely relevant to the youngsters in our team in order to prepare them for the next step in their career. Tjallingii will also keep track of the personal development of the riders as Performance Coach at the same time that will occasionally join the team in the races and provide tactical advice.

Maarten Tjallingii:
“As an ex-professional cyclist, I know all the in and outs and what it takes to make it to the top. I know what conditions may influence a riders performance, and how the mental aspect can make you successful. I am excited to join such a professional environment and work alongside the coaching team in order to help the growth of this special project. I will be responsible for the mental guidance of the riders, and I look forward to meeting them and hit the ground running this month in the first training camp. I am looking forward to playing a role in the development of the next generation of talents”.
