Maas and De Vries ride into the Top 10 in Gooikse Pijl
After a break for some action in the World Championships, our guys were back on the Academy’s colors for today’s Gooikse Pijl. The one-day Belgian classic featured a 198 kilometers long parcour that took place in a 19,8 km circuit that the guys tackled 10 times.

The race was off to a fast start, but it took more than 70 kilometers for the eventual break to actually go clear. Once that happened, a 15-man group rode away from the bunch, including ours Cees Bol and Jan Maas, and started to make a significant gap. That initial front group was later joined by a 7 chasers who included Hartthijs de Vries. The front group made their strenght count and keep their gap to the bunch all the way to the finish line. In the final bunch sprint our Hartthijs de Vries finished eighth place with teammates Jan Maas and Cees Bol in tenth and 15th respectively.

It was a great team effort by our guys today in Belgian soil. We will be back on the bike in two weeks to show our colors in France’s one-day classic Paris-Tours U23.
