Marten Kooistra becomes a trainee for Team Sunweb
03/08/2019
We are delighted to announce that Marten Kooistra will become a trainee for WorldTour’s Team Sunweb for the remainder of the season. “I’m really looking forward to joining Team Sunweb as a stagiaire. It’s a nice opportunity to race on a higher level and get to know the team and how they work better. I’m really motivated for the change – it’s a great chance for me to show myself.” points out the 21-year old Dutchman.
Marten Kooistra joined the Academy in 2016 after becoming time trial and road race national champion in the Junior category. After four years in our development program the Dutch all-rounder will get an opportunity to the highest level of the sport. “The program that the Academy has in terms of training and racing is the best there is. The way that the Performance Staff works on your development and how everyone and everything is set for the riders to do their best is truly amazing”.
The 21-year old who last year won Paris Tours U23 after a long-range attack and powered to a stage win and second overall in Olympia’s Tour, is ready to take on the next step. “After four years at the Academy I am really looking forward to have this opportunity and I am really looking forward to combining racing for both teams until the end of the season. It will be a huge learning curve for me!”
