Martijn de Jong is enjoying his second season with the team. He feels he is in the right place to keep growing as a rider. “The development focus is key for us riders. The team does not always look at the results, but rather to the performance. This gives us a lot of confidence. With this way of working, I can get better and better.”
After a season start more focused on flatter races, now it is time for the hilly courses to come in. Triptyque des Monts et Chateaux and Circuit des Ardennes will be a good groundwork for Liège-Bastogne-Liège. “I want to show myself in this kind of races and I want to go for it. Liège is a really tough one, with all the hills and climbs. I did it last year, so now I know the race. But I really want to improve my result.”
Martijn is also experiencing an important year at a personal level, since he moved to the team house in Girona. “I think it is a great opportunity to improve my climbing skills and get better as a rider. I really like the environment there, also the routes and the weather make it easier to go out on your bike.”
Keep up the good work, Martijn!
