During yesterday’s stage at the Giro d’Italia U23, our Stan van Tricht suffered a crash and even though that he went back up on his bike, he was forced to abandon the race as he suffered from a deep cut on his knee. After being taken to the hospital yesterday, the young talented rider will fly today to Belgium as he will be checked again there, and will begin his recovery process.
Stan van Tricht, feels disappointed about the current situation:
“I’m very disappointed to leave this race like that. It’s been a goal of mine and of the team for a long time, so it’s really painful to be in this situation on day one. After the crash I tried to go back on the bike, but the pain persisted and the smartest thing to do was to stop and think about the big picture. I wish the team all the best for the remainder of the race, as they are in very good shape and capable of accomplishing nice things”.
More details about his injury and recovery will be shared in the next weeks.
