Meeus: “It feels like I could make some big steps in the coming months”
Jordi Meeus joined the team as a trainee last August the 1st and is now set to begin his first complete year with the Academy. The 19-year old made his move from Belgium’s Acrog-Balen BC team after kicking off 2017 in top shape and getting some wins along the way. “I am grateful that I could do a traineeship with the team last season. I got to know my teammates and staff and I got the chance to gain some experience in bigger races” highlights the Belgian youngster.

Meeus, who finished the season in a strong way by taking some Top 20 finishes in 1.1 races such as Putte-Kapellen (17th) and Tacx Pro Classic (19th), took part in our recent team building camp in Eindhoven. “It was a very nice experience because there is a a really good atmosphere within the team! It felt good to be together with all my teammates, do some testing, get-to-know some of the staff members involved with the team and do some team building activities”.

The Lommel born rider is already thinking about the upcoming season, where he will put on display all the experience and knowledge gained during his traineeship. Jordi has shown his know-how in one-day races and, together with the Academy’s support, he looks forward to keep developing himself as a rider. “It feels like I could make some big steps in the coming months and that begins with having a good winter training period.  Next season I really want to show myself in big U23 classics like Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix, and get some results and experience in 1.1 and 1.2 races”.
