Jordi Meeus joined the Academy in early August 2017 as a trainee and stayed with the team all the way until the end of his U23 stint. The talented Belgian will move up to WorldTour level with Bora-Hansgrohe from the 1st of January. “I think that the Academy helped me in every aspect to become a professional cyclist. The knowledge of the performance staff helped me to get me physically on a higher level each year. And basically, the entire team and people around it prepare you to take the next step. The SEG Racing Academy has been very important in my development as a cyclist but also as a human being!” points out Meeus.

In his time rocking our colors, Meeus achieved a total of six wins that ranged all the way from taking home 1.1’s Gooikse Pijl in 2020 to becoming U23 Belgian road race champion going through stage wins at the Giro d’Italia U23 and the Czech Tour. “The main and biggest learning point at the Academy was that I learned how the race as a team and use the strength of the group the get the best result possible”.

The 22-year old, will start his professional journey in a matter of weeks, but he has some heartfelt advice for the riders that are now in our squad getting themselves ready for the next step. “My advice is to trust the process. Have confidence in the people who surround you inside the team and in yourself. Put in the work and the results will follow!”
