After a day to forget at Paris Tours U23, our Jordi Meeus has his eyes already set on Olympia’s Tour. The 4-day long Dutch race will be the last one of our calendar, that started in early March. “I still feel motivated and ready to give it a solid go. My body is not as fresh as during the first part of the season obviously, but this is the general feeling in the peloton. My shape is good and I did some strong training rides coming into the race” highlights our Belgian sprinter.
Meeus, who is completing a really strong 2019 and showing his well-doing in one-day races, has a clear image of goals and ambitions of the Academy coming into the race. “The goal is clear, we want to win a stage and finish with a high-placement on the general classification. We have a strong team and I am sure that we are more than capable of achieving the goals. It’s a Dutch race, so we know how to act in these king of races. It looks like there will be some strong wind in some of the stages, which fits us perfectly”.
The Academy will present a strong 6-man lineup which will look forward to replicate last year’s performance, that saw our Marten Kooistra riding to second overall and taking a stage win along the way. Three Academy riders finished within the Top 10 overall, which powered us to the top of the Best Team Classification for second year in a row.
