After yesterday’s amazing victory that powered our trainee Stan van Tricht to the yellow jersey as the race leader, our team set off with the aim of keeping him and the leadership, safe all day long. As soon as the flag dropped the first attackers tried to distance the peloton, but our talents had a clear plan since the very start.
In one of the first big moves featuring a total of 12 riders, we could find our Jordi Meeus, but they were eventually brought back and a non-GC-threatening 5-man break went away. The pace was picked a few kilometers later and the bunch split into pieces, but our riders kept Stan van Tricht always well-positioned and close to the front. The break was brought back and in the closing kilometers, the main bunch was down to around 40 riders, including the leader alongside two Academy teammates.
A group of five riders to away in the final end of the day and sprinted for the stage glory while our Jordi Meeus (who sprinted to 13th) and Stan van Tricht rolled safely in the peloton six seconds later which allows our young Belgian trainee to retain stay in the leaders jersey coming into tomorrow’s final stage. Van Tricht, who also leads the Best Young Rider classification, has five seconds on the second-placed rider in the general classification.
