Our talents are back for our second stage race of the year, the Giro d’Italia U23. Due to the current situation and the forced rescheduling of the race, the new format of the U23 version of the ‘Corsa Rosa’ will have a total of eight stages that will mix hard top mountain finishes with broken parcours that could favour either a strong breakaway or a bunch sprint. The Academy will arrive to the start line in Urbino with five of the six riders having raced the U23 European Championships yesterday, which will mean that our talents will be race ready for a successful performance around Italy.
Lineup Giro d’Italia U23: David Dekker, Jordi Meeus, Daan Hoole, Stan van Tricht, Marco Frigo & Harrison Wood
Harrison Wood, is looking forward to his first participation in the Giro d’Italia U23:
“This is the first time I will ride the Giro D’Italia U23 so it’s going to be a great experience. Also over 8 days will allow myself to be tested for the first time in a long stage race. I want to do the best possible performance for the team and give everything for some good results for the Academy. We have a really strong line up for this race. With 4 potential sprint stages we can target them with Jordi and David! The rest of the stages really suit Marco, Stan, Daan and myself I think so there we can go for some good results and make a good GC with Marco would be great. After my crash I was able to make a good recovery and we did a good training camp together in Limburg. Then I continued my preparations for one week in the U.K. I have focused now the last month on building to this race and the previous weekend put the final touches to the shape with some training racing! I think I’m on a good level and excited for the race”
