Gooikse Pijl it’s a race in which we have been performing well in the last couple of years, as in 2018 Jordi Meeus outsprinted his breakaway companions and took an impressive win as a second-year U23, while last year it was Alberto Dainese the one that jumped on the podium with a hard-fought second place in the bunch sprint. Once again, the riders will face a 200 km long and predominantly flat parcour which will feature a cobble section in each of the local laps. After the good feeling and solid result (5th for Jordi Meeus’), our riders will be going for another strong result.
Lineup Gooikse Pijl: Jordi Meeus, Maikel Zijlaard, Sven Burger, Daan Hoole and David Dekker
Dries Hollanders, DS for the race shares his thoughts ahead of it:
“As you can see by our palamares in this race, we have always ridden with ambition and motivation. In 2018 Jordi Meeus took his first pro win and last year Alberto Dainese was second, so that’s something to look forward to repeating. However, this time around the situation is a bit different with some riders arriving at the race after suffering crashes in the races leading to this one. David Dekker and Sven Burger are returning after hard falls, so we will see how their legs react. But riders like Maikel Zijlaard, Daan Hoole and Jordi Meeus are riding really strong and we will try to aim for a podium for the 3rd year in a row”.
