After an action-packed weekend with a double header of one-day races, the Academy is back to racing mood as tomorrow we will kick off the Ronde de l’Isard. The French race will feature five stages in just four days of racing action, as on Friday the bunch will race in the morning and finish the day with a TTT around Bagnères-de-Luchon. Overall, this edition’s profile presents a race suited for the climbers, specially with three of the stages featuring high altitude mountains, but the team time trial and the opening stage offer a chance to win a stage to another type of riders.

In the past two editions, the Academy has been showing itself in this particular race, with current Bahrain-McLaren’s rider, Stevie Williams winning two stages and sealing the GC in 2018, and Kaden Groves sprinting to the win in the opening stage of 2019 and wearing the yellow jersey for a day.

Lineup Ronde de l’Isard: Marco Frigo, Harrison Wood, Stan van Tricht, Milan Paulus, Wessel Krul and Jesper Rasch.

Aike Visbeek, Academy Director and DS for the race, talks about the team’s goals and ambitions for the coming four days.
“Ronde de l’Isard is always a race that we prepare really well for, and our results here in the past years show exactly that. We did not have the best approach to the race as some of our riders were involved in recent crashes altered their fine tunning for the race. However, this is what it is, and we will have to give our all. This year the parcours are really tricky with the TTT on the second day, but we have been training for it, so we will face it with high ambitions”
