After the success in our opening weekend, where Stan van Tricht in a Belgian Kermesse and David Dekker in Ster van Zwolle, seized high-quality victories, we are ready to keep on going for an action-packed couple of days in Belgium. Tomorrow our riders will lineup for 1.1’s GP Le Samyn. This one-day race will feature a total of 20 cobbled sections, all in the second part of the race, which will be key when deciding the final outcome. The high-level starting list will enable our talents with great opportunity to test their strengths against some of the best teams in the sport.
Lineup GP Le Samyn: David Dekker, Maikel Zijlaard, Jordi Meeus, Wessel Krul, Jesper Rasch, Marco Frigo & Stan van Tricht
On Wednesday we will be back to action in Wanzele Koerse. We have great memories of this race as in 2018, Cees Bol finished a solo 13km-long attack to deliver our first victory of that season. We will be hoping to repeat equal success in this Kermesse, where high-speed during all local laps is expected.
Lineup Wanzele Koerse: David Dekker, Harrison Wood, Daan Hoole, Maikel Zijlaard, Marco Frigo, Milan Paulus, Jordi Meeus, Wessel Krul, Jesper Rasch & Sven Burger
Aike Visbeek, Academy Director and DS for the races:
“The main goal is to show ourselves and ride the finals with our ‘classical’ riders. Jordi (Meeus) and David (Dekker) have shown that they are in very good condition, but it’s exciting to see how far Maikel Zijlaard and Stan van Tricht can come as both had really good performances over the weekend as well. GP Le Samyn is a very hard and selective race, the short steep hills and the cobbles will break the race apart so we must have that in mind and be near the front of the race at all times. In Wanzele we also hope for a high result, the morale is high and we are ready to play all our cards to get home with a solid performance and a good result. All riders are really happy after how we performed last weekend, but races like Le Samyn are a whole other level. However, that motivates the guys as want to see where they stand against that field”.
