Preview Tour d’Alsace
After a short period away from the racing scheme and a training camp in the region, the Academy is back in action in Tour d’Alsace. The French race will hold 5 days of action and will combine a team time trial, sprint stages and mountaintop finishes. The opening day will see the rider compete in a 3-man time team trial that will kick things off ahead of a strong week of racing, in which Fabio Jakobsen seized a stage win in last year’s edition. Our trainee, Tiago Antunes, will race for the first time in Academy colors and will become the first ever Portuguese rider to do so.

Lineup Tour d’Alsace: Stevie Williams, Tiago Antunes, Jordi Meeus, Marten Kooistra, Thymen Arensman & Ide Schelling.

Stevie Williams is looking forward to pinning the numbers again:
“I think that we all had a nice break, I went back in Wales after the Giro U23. I did a long 10 weeks away from home preparing for Isard and The Baby Giro, so it was really nice to see my friends and family before racing again. It’s been a really good training camp, we’ve been staying in a ski chalet in the Alsace region, good climbs here preparing for Tour D’Alsace next week. We’ve had new guys on the camp, so it’s a good getting to know each other before we race. For sure we want to go there to win, I think we have a team capable of winning stages and GC. There’s some hard stages and flat stages, so we will aim to work for sprinters early in the race and then move our ambitions to GC if all is well”
