Jordi Meeus takes third in Ronde van Midden Brabant
29/09/2019
Today we went back to racing Ronde van Midden Brabant after seizing the win there last year. Alberto Dainese outsprinted everyone else in the field and powered to, what it was at the time, his second win in Academy colors. The race presented a predominantly flat parcour which previewed a final bunch sprint for the win, but the strong wind already present at the start could change that.
The race was off to a fast start with some attacks trying to make it up the road, but the fast speed and the strong wind caused the peloton to split and break into small groups. Jordi Meeus and Marten Kooistra made the most of their good-positioning and could be found in the leading group, while Dutchmen Minne Verboom and Jesper Rasch were initially in the first chasing bunch but after both groups came together, they represented our flag in a front group of 30 riders.
The last part of the day turned into an elimination race as the rain appeared, and with 15 km to go our Jordi Meeus together with two breakaway companions broke clear of the group. The race ended with Meeus in third place of the day after, showing his offensive style and well-doing in one-day races.
We will be back next weekend from Italy as the Academy will start in Piccolo Lombardia.
