Schelling moves to seventh overall in Ronde de l’Isard
After yesterday’s win in the opening stage of the Ronde de l’Isard, we started the day with the yellow jersey in the shoulders of Kaden Groves. Today’s stage presented a hilly parcour that featured two first category climb in the 136 km long parcour. The day was off to a fast start, 42 kilometers were completed in the first hour of racing, and it took quite a bit to form the breakaway of the day. Our riders were always well-placed close to the head of the bunch, ready to follow the moves when needed.

Kaden Groves defended the leader’s jersey with pride, and it wasn’t until the final part of the Col de la Core, that he lost contact with the main peloton, leaving his teammates Alex Evans, Thymen Arensman and Idee Schelling in front. The bunch crested the climb with Ide Schelling and Thymen Arensman in the main group, but after the long, wet and fast descent the reduced bunch split and it was the third year U23 the one representing the Academy colors in the front group of 12 riders.

The closing kilometers of the stage were marked by different riders who tried to move away from the group, but the stage awaited a hilly final 300 m in which Schelling could sprint to seventh in the day. The 21-year old places also seventh in the GC after two stages, and thanks to being second in the first intermediate sprint he is 18 seconds down on the leaders jersey.
